Fort McMurray International Airport Departures

Security and Safety

Security and safety of passengers represent a top priority at Fort McMurray International Airport (YMM) and for the commercial airlines and charters that function at the airport. YMM also agrees vigilant security does not have to come at a cost to excellent customer service and continues to commit to providing commuters with memorable, comfortable, airport experience.

If travelers have any immediate security or safety concerns, they can contact the Operations Centre of the airport at 780-793-8970. If passengers’ concerns are not immediate, they can fill out the Customer Feedback or Safety Reporting forms. The Canadian Air Transport Security Authority is in charge of the screening procedures of commuters and personnel and their belongings for travel. Transport Canada is in charge of maintaining the safety and security of travelers in the air and on the ground. The organization also sets and enforces the measures for airports and airport operations. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) is accountable for policing YMM. The Canadian Air Transport Security Authority is considered to be a Crown corporation that is responsible for securing specific elements of the air transportation system – from commuter and luggage screening to screening airport employees. Established on April 1, 2002, CATSA is entirely funded by parliamentary appropriations and is responsible to Parliament through the Minister of Transport.
