The airport is operating from 4:00 AM until 11:45 PM on the last flight arrival. Since the facility closes nightly, generally between 11:45 PM and 4:00 AM, it is not possible to stay overnight. FSM is mostly utilized for military aviation but is also attended by two commercial airlines. The services and amenities available for passengers at the airport’s terminal include an information center, counters of the rental car and taxi companies, and restrooms. The other facility offered at the airport consists of a parking area with both the long-term parking lot and the short-term parking lot nearby to the building. The airline terminal provides efficient operational space, together with the convenience of wingback seating, complimentary Wi-Fi, and the restrooms that were voted America’s Best Public Restroom in 2005. Bus The City of Fort Smith transportation serves the facility. Passengers who are interested in using public transportation should stand at a marked bus stop sign since rivers pick up passengers only at designated bus stops. While boarding, riders should place the correct fare, ticket, or voucher in the farebox and inform the driver about their requested destination and then be seated. Travelers must consider that the seats marked “priority” are reserved for passengers with limited walking capabilities. Kids who are seven years of age or younger should be accompanied by someone at least twelve years of age or older. All Fort Smith Transit public buses are lift-equipped for mobility devices and contain the appropriate restraint devices to assure passenger’s safety.
