Cardiff Airport Arrivals

The airport aims to make passengers’ journey into Wales as smooth and welcoming as possible. There are some handy tips to keep in mind on arrival at Cardiff Airport. Commuters should consider that the U.K. Border Force operates all border control points and enforce customs and immigration regulations, with security and safety as the number one priority.

On Arrival

Identity card or passport will be checked at passport control checkpoint on arrival to the U.K.: passports must be valid for the entirety of passenger’s stay. Customers may also require a visa to travel through the U.K.

Commuters are recommended to have their passport ready on the photo page before arriving at the counter and remove any hat or sunglasses they are wearing. If traveling as a family, passengers should stick as a group and proceed to passport control checkpoint, as families can often receive their ID checks together.

eGates

On arrival into the U.K. travelers can use the eGates if:

  • they have a biometric symbol on the cover of their passport
  • they are aged 12+ (12 to 17-year-olds are required to be accompanied by an adult)
  • passenger is either:
  • British citizens
  • a resident of an EU country, Iceland, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Japan, Liechtenstein, Norway, South Korea, Singapore, Switzerland or the USA
  • a member of the Registered Traveller Service

Non-EU/EEA Passport Holders

Passengers who do not have a British, EEA or EU passport should complete a landing card before passing through passport control. Landing cards are offered by the airline during the flight. Travelers are asked to have it ready along with their passport on arrival.

Registered Traveller members can pass through the United Kingdom Border without filling in a landing card and may queue in the shortest lane, however, as a Registered Traveller. Commuters must still carry their visa/ biometric residence permit in case of having one. For more information and eligibility for Registered Travelers, it can be found at https://www.gov.uk/registered-traveller.
