TSA security

Columbia Regional Airport has provided TSA security, which has its special security measures and uses various security procedures to make passenger's travel safe.

Transportation Security Organization recommends travelers to arrive at the airport one hour before check-in at the checkpoint. The airlines will not accept baggage or registrations less than 3 minutes before departure time. The ticket counter at COU regional airport closes 30 minutes before departure. Note that leaving your vehicle in front of the terminal driveway is forbidden by the Federal Security regulations. You can park your car in the free parking space in front of the terminal.

Screening procedure

Transportation Security Organization (TSA) is responsible for the security screening procedure at Columbia Regional Airport. Passenger screening is part of the TSA security procedures at Columbia Regional, and it is intended to remove hazardous materials from the airport area, to get travelers safely to their destinations.

Passengers at COU airport are required to remove their items such as shoes, belts, jackets' laptops while going through the security screening. TSA officers are also responsible for carry-on baggage screening. Travelers are asked to remove electronics more substantial than a cell phone, prohibited items such as aerosols, gels, liquids from their carry-on. In most cases, food, fruit snacks, or medically necessary things stay in the carry-on bags. Other removed items are placed in the bin and scanned separately. Travelers who are 75 years old or more are not required to remove personal items, jackets, belts, shoes during the screening process.

Legal documents

Passengers traveling through the Columbia Regional Airport are required to present several documentation forms at the COU airport checkpoint. Every air traveler 18 years of age or older needs to provide a Real ID-compliant driver's license. For international flights, passengers are required to give a passport to verify identity at the COU regional airport checkpoint instead of a Real ID-compliant state-issued driver's license.
