Aberdeen International Airport Departures
Body scanner
ABZ has introduced body scanners by the Department for Transport regulations relating to the screening of travelers.
Keeping passengers safe represents the utmost priority for the airport. By introducing the new technology into Aberdeen, the facility can provide the best enhancements to the security procedures and serves as an accurate yet less intrusive searching method.
For security reasons, passengers do not provide specific details of additional screening or selection; however, commuters can be confident that the selection process is not based upon gender, ethnic origin, or destination of travel.
Body scanning needs the passenger to stand in a particular position within the scanner. The whole process takes less than 10 seconds without any physical sensation. If the scanner detects any dangerous items on the person, the security representative will conduct a further check. Some travelers may also be required to remove their shoes or have their headwear checked after the scanning procedure.
If selected, children also have to be screened using a security scanner or alternative screening methods.
Hand baggage
If the airline allows it, passengers may take more than one item of hand baggage through security control at Aberdeen. However, customers should check with the airline about any additional limits.
Bag size
The airline may enforce limitations on the size and number of cabin bags.
Only limited amounts of liquids may be carried through airport security into the departure lounge. If possible, commuters should pack liquids in their hold baggage (luggage that you check-in) This includes bottled drinks, suntan lotion, fragrances, cosmetics, and toiletries.
Powders and food items in the hand luggage can obstruct images shown on x-ray machines. Bags may need to be rechecked manually by security. Passenger can place these items in their hold luggage to minimize delays.
Check-in
The check-in area at ABZ can be found to the left as travelers enter the terminal concourse from the main entrance. British Airways check-in desks (21-24) are conveniently located straight ahead and to the left. Commuters should proceed to the relevant airline check-in counter, or use the self-service kiosks if they are eligible for the service.
